Week 40.7km
Year 486.5km

Firstly this week I had not been feeling great and had done some pretty slow runs, as it transpired they were all under 35 mins for 5k - a couple of weeks ago I would have been delighted with these so it really shows how much I've improved. I had my second vaccine on the Friday and my legs were really heavy!

But I finished off the Run the Month challenge. I ended on 92.1 miles of which I ran at least 80 of the miles. I raised a total of £400 which was amazingly generous from friends and family.

Then had a ping notification from Just Giving to Say someone had donated £400. Very confused I wondered if I was then supposed to pay it then collect the money from donors. I logged in to see that my In-Laws had doubled the donations made! Fantastically generous of Jenny & Darren! Thank you so much!

On Saturday morning I remembered I had signed up to Lonely Goats Reconnect 10km Run to be done over the Bank Holiday Weekend. I have never run that far so thought I would just see how long it was through run/walking.

The first 5km was nothing special and in under 35 mins. From 5-6 I had a stitch from hell, every step was agony but I pushed through. From 6-7 it actually felt ok. From 7-8 my body was seriously objecting and my left foot was in agony but I carried on.

From 8-9 my body tried a new tactic and I had a mini Hypo (I am diabetic but it is managed). Whilst I knew this wasn't "real" it did make me conscious of the fact I need to speak with my GP before trying any longer distances. The final KM was painful but I knew I was going to do it.

I have to say that the devil on my shoulder was telling me every step after 6.5km that I could quit with my head held high as it was already the furthest I had ever run. I kept thinking of how far I have come and that just 7 weeks ago I had not been able to even run 1km.

When I got the notification that I had done the 10km I got a little emotional and for some reason burst into tears whilst making a noise that only Mrs FoolRunnings should be privy too.. I had done it a full on 10km in 1:08:23 - I'm told it is a good time.

What a week this was!
